The Emergency Shelter area of Hennepin County's Health and Human Services needs you! We are seeking multiple Case Management Assistants to join the Family Shelter team to support day-to-day operations at a number of overflow and Safe Space locations.

For more information visit the  employee referral program page. Location and hours: These positions will be performed on-site at various community sites within Hennepin County. Staff are needed to work anywhere from a few shifts a week up to 40 hours per week. Work hours are 4 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. or 12 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., as well as a mix of evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

These are full-time, limited duration (temporary) benefit earning positions that may last up to two years.
These positions are internally classified as a Case Management Assistant.

In these positions, you will:  Support families currently experiencing homelessness who may be facing barriers due to mental health, substance abuse, socio-economic hardships, or language and are currently accessing services within the county homeless response system.  Interact with clients face-to-face; welcoming them at entrance, providing orientation to the space, communicating expectations, answering questions, conducting room checks, monitoring site activity, and delivering meals to families.  Maintain a clean and orderly staff workspace and supply inventory.  Work with peers, security, other site staff, departmental colleagues, and other stakeholders to provide a safe and secure environment. Document all shift activities within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Grow your direct service skills through ongoing training and development opportunities. Need to have: One of the following: Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service. A two-year human services certificate. Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences. Nice to have: Experience: Working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness. Using HMIS to perform data entry where accuracy is essential. Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients. Ability to: Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner. Work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member. Make sound, independent judgment. Candidates with fluency in another language in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties. About the department:
