The Emergency Shelter area of Hennepin County's Health and Human Services needs you! We are seeking multiple Case Management Assistants to join the Family Shelter team to support day-to-day operations at a number of overflow and Safe Space locations.

For more information visit the employee referral program page. Location and hours: These positions will be performed on-site at various community sites within Hennepin County. Staff are needed to work anywhere from a few shifts a week up to 40 hours per week. Work hours are 4 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. or 12 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., as well as a mix of evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

In these positions, you will: Support families currently experiencing homelessness who may be facing barriers due to mental health, substance abuse, socio-economic hardships, or language and are currently accessing services within the county homeless response system. Interact with clients face-to-face; welcoming them at entrance, providing orientation to the space, communicating expectations, answering questions, conducting room checks, monitoring site activity, and delivering meals to families. Maintain a clean and orderly staff workspace and supply inventory. Work with peers, security, other site staff, departmental colleagues, and other stakeholders to provide a safe and secure environment. Document all shift activities within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Grow your direct service skills through ongoing training and development opportunities. Need to have: One of the following: Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service. A two-year human services certificate. Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences. Nice to have: Experience: Working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness. Using HMIS to perform data entry where accuracy is essential. Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients. Ability to: Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner. Work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member. Make sound, independent judgment. Candidates with fluency in another language in addition to English are encouraged to apply.
