Job Overview: Wonders of Wildlife located in Springfield, MO is seeking multiple, experienced Maintenance Technicians to join our team! This position is responsible for preventative, corrective and routine maintenance on the building systems, equipment, the physical plant systems, and Life Support Systems. This includes response maintenance on electrical, plumbing, mechanical and finish building trades.
Essential Functions: Responsible for performing electrical maintenance consisting of repairing or replacing switches, repairing electrical and lighting fixtures, troubleshooting or replacing motors, diagnosing short circuits and performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance. Assist in maintaining preventive maintenance program on all building systems and equipment. Responsible for scheduling and performing plumbing repairs consisting of repairing broken pipes, installing supply and waste lines, repairing and replacing pumps, valves and seals, unclogging stopped up lines and performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance. Responsible for performing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance consisting of installing new equipment, modifying existing equipment, diagnosing faulty equipment and performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance. Responsible for performing material handling equipment repairs consisting of lift equipment, hoists, maintenance platforms, dock levelers, elevators and escalators. This includes briefing and controlling contracted maintenance support as well as performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance. Responsible for installing and repairing various appliances consisting of smoke detection systems, turn style counters, metal detectors, intrusion alarm devices and security systems. This includes briefing and controlling contracted maintenance support as well as performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance. Responsible for coordinating and completing finishing building trades which include painting, floor repairs, wall and door repairs and other assigned carpentry projects. Responsible for monitoring trends to help diagnose deficiencies with the Life Support Systems equipment and monitoring, communicating and responding to LSS alarms. Mentors and trains less experienced staff in all aspects of the job. Assists all departments with related maintenance and repair work as directed Assists staff and visitors as needed in a pleasant, professional and courteous manner. Must adhere to all company/department safety standards and policies. Must be open to working mandatory/approved overtime. Must be open to working weekends/weekdays/nights when necessary/critical to support the business. Must be able to cover shifts at affiliate Conservation Attraction properties. Must have an approved driving record and operate a company vehicle if required/applicable. MINIMUM Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education: Requires good understanding of motor controls, pumps, physical plants, automated controls and pneumatics. Requires ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings and diagrams. Requires good computer and communication skills, and the ability to understand and operate related office and building equipment. Requires a relatively high degree of concentration and attention to read and interpret designs, specifications, and schematic drawings. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with little supervision. Requires walking/standing approximately 50% of time; sitting approximately 10% of time; lifting up to 50 lbs. approximately 20% of time; stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 20% of time. Requires the use of multiple types of ladders. Requires the ability to work at heights proficiently. Requires capability of performing essential job functions in an outside environment un-protected from severe weather conditions, where hazardous materials and activities generally require special precautions, in mechanical equipment rooms where spaces are small and tight, and in office environments with climate-control and good lighting. Requires use of hands, arms and legs to operate tools and equipment used for construction, repair and maintenance. Requires use of hands and arms to operate computers and other general office equipment. Requires the ability to verbally communicate with employees, distributors and technical professionals in person and via telephone. Requires the ability to operate office equipment including computers and read written instructions, blueprints and other documentation. Requires the ability to work alone and unsupervised in facility for several hours at a time.
