The Maintenance Technician is someone who performs regular preventive maintenance on equipment used to ensure the successful execution of production activities. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supplying technical and maintenance support to the plant, equipment, and team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Strictly abide by safety regulations during manufacturing activities, keeping equipment in check to avoid mechanical hazards that could cause harm to operators and workers Follow Environmental standard applicable to our process and facility. Must be a team player and collaborate with all departments to meet all goals. Must be flexible to work any shift. Purchase tools needed to perform job duties (toolbox, power tools, hand tools, etc.) Work safely following all established plant policies and procedures such as LOTO, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Machine guarding, etc. Light to heavy physical effort required. Make use of equipment blueprints to diagnose manufacturing equipment problems and take necessary actions to rectify them . Must be available to ensure that the machines for production are in good condition to keep our company's manufacturing process running. Duties also include carrying out general maintenance on machines, including cleaning, greasing, and servicing of the manufacturing equipment . Also responsible for ensuring production workers and/or other users of tools used adhere to manufacturers' guidelines on equipment. Such adherence is necessary to enable the tools to function in their maximum capacity. The technician in charge of maintenance will also teach and instruct other workers on how to effectively operate machines in carrying out production tasks. Will conduct and carry out regular inspection on equipment to determine their level of productivity, and when worn-out equipment, which slow down production, are detected, he/she will initiate a replacement, taking away bad parts and replacing them with new ones. will implement installations with the best parts obtainable, paying attention to size and fitting to make equipment function better. Carefully read manuals of equipment and interpret them to understand how to operate and maintain them properly. Read work orders to confirm the production task is within the capacity of the factory's equipment to abide by the guidelines; make provision for alternate equipment to handle big production tasks to prevent wearing out. Carry out routine servicing of equipment to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions, which could affect production activities. Keep and maintain records of maintenance activities to track the lifespan of equipment. When equipment breakdown continues too frequently after repeated fixing, it will need to be replaced. Troubleshoot equipment to determine specific malfunctioning issues and tackle them accordingly. Communicate with management and/or other departments to inform them about equipment faults and best maintenance practices to implement for maximum performance. Prioritize daily work orders according to their level of importance. Enroll for continuous training and education on technical maintenance practices to be updated with the latest maintenance techniques and be able to keep equipment in the best possible conditions. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS The qualifications for maintenance technician are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation. The ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish preferred but not required The ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of mechanical maintenance process. Critical thinking ability to troubleshoot and detect malfunctioning. Possess the discipline to execute tasks without procrastination. Good time management to work at a good pace, executing word orders and demands. Ability to handle basic tools. Knowledge of safety precaution. Good human relations to relate cordially with team members and worker. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess good math skills and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess a Technical Trade or pass GBP El Paso apprenticeship.
Experience: 1-2 years in a production environment, preferably in a corrugated box plant. Must have a strong knowledge of electrical and PLC (480VAC, 600VDC, networks, drives, communications, programs) also a strong knowledge in mechanical (pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, gear train driven equipment) knowledge in plumbing pneumatic, water and steam also welding, torch cutting, fabricating what is needed. Physical demands: Standing, sitting, walking, push/pull, ability to lift/carry 10lbs-50lbs, but no more than 100lbs.
Must be able to work in Plant environment: Noisy, dirt, dust, hot and cold temperatures.
