Maintenance Ranger Location Dillon County, SC : Located in the South Carolina Sandhills region and named after the blackwater Little Pee Dee River, Little Pee Dee State Park is a subdued setting for those who want to enjoy the park's natural features or fish the still waters of 54-acre Lake Norton for bream, bass and catfish. With its easy access to Interstate 95, and picnicking and camping amenities, Little Pee Dee is popular with coastal travelers and locals alike. Job Purpose and Duties: Under general supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of a State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Assumes the responsibilities of the Park Manager in the absence of higher level employees. Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, groundskeeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and operation of a state park and assist park visitors with quality customer service. 1) Performs maintenance and repairs on vehicles and motorized equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment. Keeps maintenance records. 2) Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with Department guidelines and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals. 3) Collect and account for revenue and produce required reports. 4) Maintains a safe work environment for employees and visitors. 5) Performs and directs clean-up and housekeeping activities to ensure the attractiveness and cleanliness of park grounds and facilities. 6) Ensures an adequate supply of common maintenance supplies are on hand at all times. 7) Practice and promote teamwork within the park, throughout the agency, and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year. 8) Performs law enforcement activities within his/her authority and established policy and provides a safe environment for visitors and staff. High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year general maintenance experience. Additional Requirements: 1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, various cleaning agents, and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Will be required to work nights, weekends, and hollidays including overtime as needed. Comfortable using Windows, MS Office, and working with data entry on computers. will be required to clean and maintain cabins, campgrounds, and day use facilities. 2) Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; have the ability to perform simple accounting and administrative duties as required. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to operate a variety of power tools. 3) Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Actual Job Location: Little Pee Dee State Park Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
