Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.Job DescriptionOTHER SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OR DUTIESAdapts standard tooling, mounts cutting tools, sets feeds and speeds, determines number of cuts required to obtain finish, and makes all necessary adjustments.May give work direction and assist with machine set-up for Machinist levels 1-3 as required.Performs heat treating, finishing, grinding, honing, brazing, and mechanical assembly operations as required.Maintains personal tool box, tools and measuring equipment necessary to adequately perform duties.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONSMinimum Required Skills and Knowledge4 years of concentrated machinist training.Able to read and interpret engineering drawingsDemonstrated job planning abilities and knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry.Understands how to work with a variety of materials.Required Certifications and TrainingObtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.Experience Level with Business ToolsProficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
