Will perform maintenance activities independently, with minimal supervision.Specifically, a Machinist performs duties related to the set up and operation of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines using Metal Lathes, Drill Press, Horizontal Milling Machine, Band Saw and Boring Unit. Lays out work from drawings, sketches, and written specifications. Rebuilds all gearing components on 4100XPA, XPB, XPC/AC Komatsu Electric Shovels including Hoist 1st and 2nd intermediate assembly, Hoist Drum assembly, Propel and Swing Shaft Assembly, Crowd Gear Case Assembly, Point Sheave Assembly, Saddle Block Assembly, Side Frame Line Boring and Motor Alignments. Repair or build replacement parts for PV271, PV271XC Epiroc Diesel DrillsPerform routine maintenance activitiesDevelop solutions for various maintenance situationsComplete Work Orders and other maintenance documentationTrain and mentor maintenance employeesPerform other duties as required.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Four (4) years experience in the crafts of Machinist, Line Boring, Welding, Boiler MakerMust have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required.
