Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Position Summary
Will be working with the other Machinist and craftsman in the Central Repair Shop refurbishing and manufacturing parts for equipment repairs to Dow Spec owned by LAO operation areas that are being maintained by nested Maintenance groups. Primary Responsibility
• Must be capable of following all shop procedures and safety rules without exception
• Must be capable of consistently and accurately reading precision measuring tools
• Must be capable of consistently and accurately setting up and machining precision fits on all lathes, small mills, key seater, surface grinders and drill presses
• Must possess a good understanding of various types of machining tools, inserts, carb-alloy, braze-on, etc. and explain the proper application of each
• Must be capable of setting up balancing machine and components or assembly balancing as needed
• Must be capable of using all machine related attachments, tool post grinders, indexing heads, horizontal boring bars, taper attachments, etc.
• Must be extremely versatile, innovative, and capable to safety set up complex machining operations
• Must be capable of communication with other internal shops to maintain a consistent job flow
• Must be able to accurately sharpen machining tools and drill bits as needed
• Must be capable of accurately reading blueprints and layouts
• Must be capable of performing all machining task safety and efficiently without risk of harm to self or others
• Must possess a good understanding of metals, hardness, machinability, results of heating, etc.
• Must be capable of drawing accurate working sketches when needed Qualifications
• Machinist completed Vocational school or certified or approved equivalent
• Minimum 4 -6 years in Industrial Construction/Maintenance Industrial Experience
• Minimum 4 -6 years' experience in related field Physical Requirements
