This OpportunityOur Los Angeles office is seekinga Loan Originator for our Private Real Estate Debt Group.This position has responsibility for all aspects of debt origination and will work closely with members of the investment teams. The successful candidate will originate, structure, conduct due diligence and close senior and subordinate debt transactions primarily in the Western United States. Specifically, the candidate will have a well-documented track record of negotiating and structuring complex loan structures, with experience in mezzanine and preferred equity structures.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Originate, structure, conduct due diligence and close mezzanine, preferred equity, and senior debt transactions.Assess risks and opportunities, optimize portfolio balance in terms of both asset type and geographical diversity, maximize return on investments, and optimize cashflowUndertake a range of client facing responsibilities, including marketing and regular clientcommunicationsQualifications:Bachelor's degree preferably in real estate,financeor economics5-7 years of experience in real estate lending or principal investment with a focus on value-add businessplansTrack record of successfully originating senior bridge loans, mezzanine, structuredfinanceand preferred equity positionsStrong contacts, relationships and standing in the investmentcommunityExperience investing in multiple property types with a diverse investmentbackgroundSingle asset and portfolio investment experience, familiarity with operating company investments, joint venture, mezzanine financing, entity level investing, and financial engineeringFinancial modeling expertiseDevelopment and value-add lendingexperienceExcellent negotiation and business development skillsStrong deal management skills and exposure to large and complex deal processes across geographies and sector typesEntrepreneurial and open, flexible mindsetStrong financial acumen, with an understanding of mezzanine, preferred equity, and structured debtGood oral and written communication skillsTeam playing attitude, sound investment judgment, andself-motivatedThe FirmFounded in 1966, Heitman is a global real estate investment management firm.
