Job summary
An Associate Instrumentation Engineer at the LCMC is responsible for serving as Project Manager and/or Project Engineer for expense and capital projects involving instrumentation/controls in a petroleum refinery.The Associate Instrumentation Engineer will work under the supervision of a Senior Instrumentation Engineer.Responsibilities include development of optimal project scope, detailed design development, and support of project construction while ensuring budget and schedule constraints.

Responsibilities
• Development of optimal project scope often using a gated, front end loaded (FEL) approach to scope and cost estimate development• Detailed design development and support of project construction• Assuring selected scope is within budget and schedule constraints• Reporting to management on project progress including any developments which may affect project cost and schedules• Providing cost estimates and preliminary engineering design work for the development and preparation of projects• Developing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) projects from the process hazard analysis review phase through final engineering, construction, and commissioning• Developing scope of work for installation and startup of new projects• Performing field surveys and collecting data to be used in establishing preliminary control designs• Reviewing design documents prepared by in-house designers and engineering contractors• Monitoring construction progress and addressing design questions• Providing startup support and assisting with training• Performing all tasks to satisfy project closeout procedures
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering required• 2 years of engineering experience in the refining/petrochemical industry preferred• Ability to perform field surveys including climbing ladders in operational process units• Working knowledge of ANSI/ISA 61511 preferred• Previous experience with sizing and selection of instrumentation in the refining/petrochemical industry preferred• Valid Driver's License required
