What you get to do every day: Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures Troubleshoots complex system hardware and software issues Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software Performs advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups archive operations Conducts advanced audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and guidelines Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies May coach and provide guidance to less experience professionals Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, LDAP, ICMP, ssh and SNMP Skilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshooting Responsible for provisioning virtual and physical servers or workstations Administering systems using automation and scripting tools to include CLI, Ansible, or various coding languages Knowledge of repository management practices, patch administration, and vulnerability remediation May serve as a team or task lead Clearance: Active TS (SCI eligibility) clearance and eligibility to obtain a CI poly is required upon application for initial consideration **This position is not open for any clearance upgrades or sponsorship.** Education/Experience: Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience 5+ years of experience Required Skills: Hands on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc. Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.) Proficient written and oral communication skills Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment Ability to take direction What is ideal?
