Bartolo's in Farmington, UT is looking for line cooks to join our team. We are located on 895 W E Promontory. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, and reliable. Line Cook Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and skilled line cook to join our team at our Italian restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality, fresh Italian dishes, including fresh pasta and breads while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This is a full-time or part-time position that requires flexibility with scheduling as weekends, evenings, and holidays are busy times in the restaurant.
Responsibilities: 1. Food Preparation: Prepare and portion ingredients according to the restaurant's recipes and standards. This includes chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating various ingredients. Prepare a variety of Italian dishes, including but not limited to fresh pasta, sauces, and bread, according to established recipes and standards.
2. Cooking: Execute cooking techniques with precision to prepare a variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, risotto, pizzas, and seafood. Ensure all dishes are cooked to perfection, consistently meeting quality standards. Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and high quality, and that food is cooked to order and served at the correct temperature.
3. Food Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. This includes proper food storage, temperature control, and regular equipment maintenance.
4. Menu Knowledge: Stay informed about the restaurant's menu offerings, specials, and ingredient sourcing to provide accurate information to guests and make recommendations.
5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including sous chefs and prep cooks, to coordinate food preparation and ensure timely service during busy shifts.
6. Plating and Presentation: Plate dishes creatively and with attention to detail, ensuring that each plate is visually appealing and meets the restaurant's presentation standards.
7. Quality Control: Continuously monitor food quality, taste, and appearance to ensure consistency and make necessary adjustments as required.
8. Cleaning and Maintenance: Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations. Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
9. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, including tracking ingredient usage and reporting any shortages to the kitchen management team.
10.  Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including those related to food handling and sanitation. Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Requirements: 1.  Culinary Skills: Previous experience as a line cook in a scratch kitchen, fast operation, or Italian restaurant is preferred. 2 plus years of experience and strong knowledge of Italian cuisine is a plus.
2. Knife Skills & Kitchen Terminology: Proficient in knife handling, various cooking techniques, and kitchen terminology.
3. Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy shifts.
4. Team Player: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff effectively, and also to front-of-the-house team members.
5. Attention to Detail: Meticulous about hospitality, food & service quality, personal interactions, personal presentation, and workplace cleanliness.
6. Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new recipes and techniques as the menu evolves. Follow directions, recipes, and rules.
7. Food Safety Certification: A valid food handler's permit is required, SERV Safe certification is a plus.
8. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy pots or ingredients.
