Job Title: CARE Clinician Duration: Approx 1 Year Shift: Hybrid Schedule or Fully Remote Location: Topeka, KS ******** Client: State of Kansas Job Description: The Client Assessment, Referral, and Evaluation (CARE) Program implements the federal Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) program which reviews the Level II evaluations for people with Mental Illness (MI) and/or Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD). This position is responsible for reviewing the Level II evaluations for MI or ID/DD and will work closely with the CARE II Nurse on determinations and specialized services recommendations. This position will develop guidance and training for Level II evaluators regarding recommending specialized services for the individuals they evaluate.
Specific Duties: Work closely with the CARE II Nurse to review Level II evaluations and create determination letters. Lead a collaborative effort with the CARE & NFMH teams to develop guidance for recommendations of specialized services for the Level II evaluators. Lead a collaborative effort with the CARE & NFMH teams to develop training of specialized services for the Level II evaluators. Respond timely to requests for assistance from Level I assessors or Level II evaluators regarding individual cases and refer to appropriate KDADS staff, other State Departments, and/or community-based services. Use the tracking strategy for documenting the services provided. Skills required: Intermediate to advanced computer skills required (especially Excel). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to synthesize information. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. Experience required: Familiarity with federal, state, and local government structures as well as private sector resources is a plus. Familiarity or experience working with individuals in crisis, mental illness, intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities, substance use disorder, etc. is a plus. Previous experience working in a team environment. Minimum of two years' experience in one or more of the following: nursing facility, nursing facility for mental health, community mental health center, developmental disability services or related work required. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and the flexibility to creatively adapt to ever-changing circumstances and events is essential to success in this position. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Education required: Social Worker an individual who has a Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university and is licensed to practice in the State of Kansas. (Note: individual social workers can only practice independently if the individual is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) or has a supervisory contract on file with the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
