Works under the supervision of the Library Media Specialist and the Principal. FLSA DESIGNATION:
10 month position, 30 hours per week. $18.00/hour. Note: This is a union, grant-funded position with benefits that exists as long as grant funds are available. PART I - SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION
This class is accountable for assisting PK-5 students in the Library; Does related work as required. PART II - MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: General Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED); Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred. B. CREDENTIALS : C. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbents in this class may be required to possess a current CT Motor Vehicle Class D Operator License. D. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: E. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students and parents; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency with library technology systems and software; Strong organization skills and attention to detail; Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational setting; Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Assist students in locating and selecting appropriate reading materials; Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the library space; Support the circulation of library materials, including check-in and check-out procedures; Assist with the implementation of literacy programs and initiatives; Provide technical support for library technology resources; Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom curriculum; Assist with cataloging and processing new library materials; Promote a love of reading and learning among students through engaging activities and programs; Other duties as assigned by the Library Media Specialist.
