Library Customer Service Assistant Location Baltimore, MD : The Pratt Library is accepting applications for a Library Customer Service Assistant to perform office, circulation and related functions at the one of our Neighborhood Library locations. The ideal candidate will have office experience, sound organizational skills, thrive in busy environment and have a high aptitude for customer service. This position reports to the Branch Manager. Department: Neighborhood Library Services, Branch location to be determined Job Type: Full-Time, Benefits Included Starting Salary: $34,328.00 Summary of Duties: Perform routine/repetitive circulation and office support duties. Register customers for library cards and maintain customer library records; charge and discharge library materials; handle customer registration problems; provide explanation of circulation regulations to customers. Collect fines and fees from customers and operate cash register; collect cash for Pratt Library logo items; reconcile cash register and/or transactions at the end of the day. Operate a variety of standard office and library machines; type letters, forms and other documents as required. Answer telephones, answer directional questions and refer customers to appropriate personnel; assist customers with operation of library equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Two years office support experience. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to pay attention to detail. Ability to provide a variety of information and guidance clearly, courteously and pleasantly to library customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers. Type 30 wpm. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
