Effective immediately: (PT) Library Assistant I – Library, Wilmington University, New Castle.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. Must have excellent communication, customer service skills, and organization skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products as well as having a working knowledge of online research databases, Library Management Systems, and other web resources. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is a must. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Responsible for Information Desk support including closing procedures, circulation, physical and virtual reference, and patron assistance with library resources and equipment. Support circulation and resource-sharing efforts through Delaware Library Catalog, Workflows, and ILLiad including pulling and shelving materials, processing, preparing address labels, packing, and unpacking delivery bins, and U.S. mail, scanning, and material returns. Journal and Laptop check-in, claims, shelving, and maintenance. Provide clerical support for office supplies and budget record keeping. Process newly acquired materials. Support laptop lending operation. Record service activity and space usage data. Participate in ongoing professional development activities including library internal training sessions and library meetings. Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff. Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Library Manager.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Thursday between the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The incumbent will be expected to work evenings at the New Castle campus for approximately 25-30 hours per week. The candidate must be flexible with their schedule and/or hours to meet the needs of the department and/or the University.
