Legal Billing Analyst

Job summary
Works as liaison between Legal and other departments on accounting-related tasksLeads efforts for billing process improvement and department efficienciesActs as system administrator for many aspects of the e-billing system

Responsibilities
• Prepares spend analysis reports and participates in inter-department calls• Responsible for compiling, preparing and submitting month-end journal entries and accruals• Compiles and submits monthly and quarterly insurance spend reports• Advises department members on compliance and policy-driven accounting practices• Facilitates monthly meetings with attorneys regarding spending forecasts• Analyzes accounting information to ensure accurate accounting of labor and outside legal spend• Acts as final approver on outside legal vendor invoices• Works directly with other departments and external vendors on issue resolution• Acts as system administrator for e-billing system• Analyzes legal settlement documents and drafts responses to regulatory inquiries
Requirements
• Business related bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience• Experience and knowledge of law department operation and legal terms preferred• Attention to detail is critical• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Software experience preferred: Legal e-Billing/Matter Management systems• Must be organized, persistent, and exercise judgment and discretion• Ability to adapt to high volumes of data as needed
