Job Summary The Department of Teacher Education in the Dewar College of Education and Human Services seeks applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position beginning August 1, 2024.The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate's area of expertise and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels. The Department of Teacher Education is comprised of 24 faculty with 20 initial teacher, advanced teacher, and service degree programs. The department supports students at all levels of their career pathways and is a partner with schools and programs throughout the South Georgia region and beyond. Responsibilities The position will be responsible for teaching a 5/5 course load per semester (Fall and Spring), providing program coordination of the online elementary education degree program, and providing service to the department, college, and university. Typical Allocation of Duties Teaching and Service - 100%
Teaches classes and meets assigned service obligations.
Required Qualifications Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Elementary Education or closely related field; Elementary Education teaching experience in the US; Expertise in Reading and Literacy; Experience with online/distance education; Experience with program management/coordination; Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Preferred Qualifications Successful college-level teaching in elementary literacy courses; Expertise in the use of technology for teaching and learning; Knowledge of data-informed and research-based practices; Experience in student recruitment, retention, and success; Interest and willingness to contribute to fostering and maintaining partnerships with public schools and districts; A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage; Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting; A record of mentoring students.
