Job Summary: The University of Kentucky seeks a dynamic and passionate faculty member to join the Department of Arts Administration in the College of Fine Arts. About the Department The Department of Arts Administration at the University of Kentucky is the first stand-alone department in the field in the United States. The department offers three degree programs, BA, MA, and PhD and a Graduate Certificate in Fundraising & Development. The undergraduate program, founded in 1987, is the oldest BA in Arts Administration nationwide. Annually, there are approximately 130 students enrolled in the degree program. The graduate program, launched in 2013, was the first completely online MA in Arts Administration at a state institution. The MA is designed for working professionals and operates year-round. On average, the MA program has 65 enrolled students. In 2020, the Department launched the first PhD in Arts Administration as an online degree program. It enrolls 4-6 new doctoral students annually. Currently, the department includes seven full-time faculty and two full-time staff members including a dedicated instructional designer who works exclusively with the department's online offerings. Additionally, the department employs 12-15 part-time instructors annually. Due to expansion, the department will add additional full-time faculty in 2023-24. The department values innovation in pedagogical models; the advancement of research in the field of Arts Administration; and collaboration among faculty, students, staff, and community. Job Responsibilities The faculty member will teach courses within the core curriculum of the Department of Arts Administration and hold service responsibilities. The faculty member will teach undergraduate courses as assigned (9-10 credit hours per semester) including face-to-face and online courses; develop online/hybrid courses in Arts Administration; and assume other duties as assigned. The faculty member will participate in course and program-level assessment processes; assist in the program's administration through activities such as recruiting students, participating in curriculum development and revisions, and raising awareness of the program's activities; serve on committees for the College and University and provide advice and support to nonprofit arts organizations and related organizations in the commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond, as requested.
