Position Summary
The Nutrition Program at North Central College invites applicants for the position of Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics. This successful candidate deliver course content, contribute to the creation of assignments and other assessments, evaluate and grade student work, and hold office hours to assist students in the nutrition program. The role requires the faculty member to be competent in the instruction of classes related to nutrition concepts, nutrition and metabolism, food systems and sustainability, community nutrition, clinical nutrition and nutrition counseling.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed.
1. Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established and approved by the Program Director of Nutrition and Dietetics.
2. Enact best-practices in nutrition education
3. Model critical and reflective thinking and foster the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of learners.
4. Be available by appointment for academic advising and student consultation.
5. Provide timely, constructive and thoughtful feedback to learners.
6. Use information from course evaluations in planning instruction and improving the process.
7. Demonstrate professional and educational values and legal/ethical precepts in interactions.
8. Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the role.
9. Use current research findings and scholarly works in nursing to improve nutrition education and practice.

Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities described below or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. In ordered to fulfill the expectation of this position. A candidate must possess competency in the depth and breadth of their nutrition and dietetics knowledge, clinical reasoning, technical skills, problem solving, professionalism and communication skills to provide high-quality clinical and educational service to both internal and external constituents of the nutrition program.

profession and the student relationship-based vision of the program.
5. Ability to communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.
QUALIFICATION
STANDARDS
Education/Training:
Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a concentration in the discipline (with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in teaching discipline) at the time of appointment. All degrees must be from an accredited institution. A terminal degree is preferred.
Experience : Desired attributes or experiences include prior higher education teaching experience, experience facilitating student-led classroom discussions, evidence of working with a diverse student populations, evidence of effective collaboration skills, experience with technology/course management systems (e.g. Canvas), excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Exceptional communication skills and prior experience in nutrition education is preferred.
Licensure: . Registered Dietician
