Posting Identification Number 36773 Leaves Representative (Human Resources Representative) Position Overview The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an individual to perform professional human resources duties in evaluating, interpreting, analyzing, and executing specialized human resource activities for the for the agency. The ideal candidate for this position will possess the ability to interpret personnel rules and bargaining agreements. The individual serving in this position will function as the coordinator for all Leaves of Absence and serves as an Alternative Employment Program Coordinator. Essential Functions Performs professional human resources assignments for the Department of Juvenile Justice.  Serves as coordinator for all Leaves of Absence for the Department of Juvenile Justice. Serves as an Alternative Employment Program (AEP) Coordinator. Serves as backup to facility leaves coordinators and provides support to facility human resources staff statewide.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college and one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.  Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least two (2) years of experience processing leaves of absence for a public or private entity. Prefers at least two (2) years of professional working experience interpreting and implementing the Personnel Code and Rules. Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience interpreting and implementing Collective Bargaining Agreements and Contracts. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience implementing Human Resources policies and procedures as they relate to leaves of absence within State of Illinois. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining leaves of absence reports for tracking purposes. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with Microsoft Excel and/or equivalent software program. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with Microsoft Word and/or equivalent software program. Prefers the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Prefers the ability to effectively communicate amongst co-workers, supervisors, and executive staff. Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.  About the Agency The mission of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is to build youth skills and strengthen families by promoting community safety and positive youth outcomes. Over 900 staff members from across various departments—security, programming, education, mental health, and more—collaborate with the understanding that youth are physically, emotionally, and cognitively different from adults. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental, treatment-focused model of care that builds youth resiliency, engages families, and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois' communities.
