We are looking for a high energy dedicated teacher. This is an opportunity to enhance the student and teacher experience at Sylvan Learning Center. The Lead Teacher is responsible for monitoring and providing support to the instructional area, ensuring that teachers are practicing good instructional management. When Directors are unavailable or not in the Center, the Lead Teacher serves as the point-of-contact for teaching staff and manages Center operations, ensuring a high quality personal customer experience. The Lead Teacher communicates staff performance, customer issues, and student progress to the Center's Director(s). The Lead Teacher also delivers instruction as needed. This is an in person part time position.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSObserves and coaches instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow Sylvan's Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robustAttends to immediate instructor needs, such as requests for materials or assistance with instructionAssumes teacher responsibilities in emergency scheduling or capacity situationsAssists teachers with preparation for instruction; Gathers materials as appropriateObserves and coaches teachers on a regular basisChecks students in and out of the CenterGreets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards with particular attention to student safety and well-beingOpens and closes the Center according to procedures, securing all materialsFields inquiry calls, takes payments, updates schedules, and books appointments for DirectorsMakes outbound marketing or other callsEscalates service or other issues that require Director interventionKNOWLEDGE REQUIREDFour year degree or equivalent requiredOne to two years teaching experience preferredExperience using Microsoft Office and other standard business applications used by the CenterKnowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phonesKnowledge of tablet computers preferredSKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDProven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learnStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCoaching skillsStrong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skillsStrong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexibleSelf-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasksProven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audienceAbility to work collaboratively; Strong team playerAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten poundsPOSITION TYPEIn person position at Dublin or Lewis Center location.Part time hours. * School year hours: Typically Monday - Thursday: 3-8pm and some Saturday mornings.Summer hours: Typically Monday - Friday: 9a-1pm and/or 3-8pmHourly pay starting at $15401K and employer matching eligibleadditional benefits availableThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
