As a Lead Scientist Materials, you'll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world. It starts with YOU. As a Lead Scientist Materials, you'll collaborate with cross-functional R&E teams to discover, develop and deliver materials for the Kimberly-Clark Personal Care Sector. You'll drive material solutions for consumer demand spaces and problems across end-to-end material life cycle. Initial accountabilities for the role include Fastening but can expand to other materials (adhesives, films, inks, etc.) based on motivation and experience. This role will work with fast moving Personal Care consumable products.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with R&E teams to understand business innovation plans, problems, and prioritize. Utilize business innovation plans to lead development specifically in the Fastening Materials platform.
•Work with product developers, process development engineers and other materials scientists to secure, develop, and commercialize improved or new materials.
•Leadership responsibility in one or more projects as well as support roles in business initiatives.
•Provide leadership in the design, development, and optimization of, Materials for consumer product solutions, supporting the K-C brand plans.
•Manage relationships with vendors and key material suppliers to develop technologies to accelerate innovation to our consumers
•Coordinate material development activities with key suppliers and production locations with mainly North American implementation, but also internationally, as required.
•Mentor junior scientists.
•Ensure all work complies with corporate safety, regulatory, product safety, and sustainability requirements.
In this role, you will report to an R&E Senior Manager.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:
•Bachelor's or advanced degree in related scientific or engineering discipline.
•3+ years of industry experience in research or engineering, product/material development, project management roles or other related experience.
•A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and across functional boundaries to complete projects within required timeframes.
•Exceptional ability to effectively communicate/translate complex technical concepts to others.
•Work independently and progress with limited instruction and as part of a larger cross functional team.
•Travel up to 15% if needed, including some international travel.
Preferred:
•Experience with vendor management.
•Experience analyzing material properties and impact on product performance.
•Experience in materials development including translating material development needs from prototype to commercial scale demonstrations, completing material and product validations.
•Experience leading material and product commercial launch activities with global manufacturing partners.
•Experience in Kimberly-Clark or similar Personal Consumer Products and Materials
•Research experience, including the development of technical study plans (bench, qualitative, quantitative), rapid learning cycles and translation of results into material innovation opportunities that deliver against consumer insights.
