Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionRole Summary:The Lean Engineer performs the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line in service shop. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.Essential Responsibilities:Drive the understanding and application of FLIGHT DECK Lean principles and toolsConnects the voice of the customer (VOC) to the targets to improve (TTI) and leader standard work (LSW)Works in cross functional teams both at the Genba (actual shop floor) and Obeya (great room)Engages in breakthrough initiatives such as transformation rhythms, shop strategy action planning reviews, and cell Tier 5 and the plant control Tier 4 operating rhythmsSupports the continuous improvement of key process indicators (KPI) and the sustainment of standard work process improvements – both transactional and non-transactionalImplements 5S & Visual Management standards and controlsWorks on complex solutions and implements new solutions utilizing both Lean and technologyLeads kaizen problem solving events and oversees the implementation of future state value stream maps (VSM) and transformation plans to eliminate process constraintsFacilitates, prioritizes, and owns an active pipeline of waste reduction projects, Shingijutsu kaizen events, and action plans for the McAllen siteCoach, mentor, and train others in all Lean Six Sigma DMAIC concepts and toolsPresents product / program strategies, Lean roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to Senior LeadersDefines processes, IT tools, trainings, systems, etc. to be used by the manufacturing communitySpecifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research doneQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in Production Process and EquipmentELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, nationals of the United States, asylees and refugees) due to access to export-controlled technology.Must pass background and drug screens.Desired Characteristics:Strong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to influence others and lead small teamsLead initiatives of moderate scope and impactAbility to coordinate several projects simultaneouslyEffective problem solving skills and Lean Six Sigma training / experienceProven analytical and organizational abilityProficient in Microsoft OfficeThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
