The incumbent will oversee the work of 1 Groundsworker, and 5-10 student employees engaged in general gardening and grounds maintenance work around the campus residence halls. Additional work may include projects such as planting shrub areas, laying sprinkler systems, or laying concrete or asphalt. Working independently and/or as part of a team, incumbent is responsible for landscape care and support, in assigned work area and other work areas as needed; planning, training, coordinating work of others; monitoring supplies budget; purchasing routine supplies and equipment; providing input into purchasing priorities; tracking and reporting attendance and payroll for student employees and completing required paperwork.Required Education and Experience:Requires two years of experience in planting, cultivating and maintaining flowers and shrubs, or in general grounds maintenance work.Preferences:Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: BilingualExperience with horticultural spraying and pest eradicationPossession of a Qualified Applicators CertificateExperience with large, commercial irrigation systems including theinstallation and maintenance of sprinkler heads, repairs of irrigation lines,and familiarity with smart irrigation controllers and softwareExperience with tree trimming, including knowledge of materials, methods,and tools used in trimming, pruning, cultivating and caring for treesExperience with landscape construction or renovation projectsTime Base:Full-time- 1.0Pay Plan:12/12Work Schedule:Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30. CSU Classification Salary Range:$44,652 - $75,408 per year.
