Job Description SummaryThe Aerodynamics Lead Engineer will report to the Turbine Aerodynamics Manager and be responsible for leading the design of GE Aviation's next generation of turbine components and associated technologies.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesLead the aerodynamic design and analysis of high- and low-pressure turbine componentsDrive the development of advanced aerodynamic technology to improve engine performance and durabilityCultivate advanced skills in aerodynamic design, including use of cutting-edge numerical and experimental techniquesDraw conclusions from component and engine test data to validate aerodynamic designsDevelop analytical tools/software to improve aerodynamic design and predictive capabilitiesFormulate and execute plans to achieve technical and program requirementsDevelop lean processes to improve organizational productivity and efficiencyExecute trade studies to meet project requirements, collaborating with horizontal organizationsUses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering positionDesired CharacteristicsMaster's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering relevant to turbomachinery aerodynamics with minimum of 3 years of engineering experience OR Doctorate Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering focused on aerodynamics/compressible flowsKnowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and/or aerodynamic testing techniquesInterest in being a self-starter, utilizing innovative problem solving to drive solutions on complex issuesFlexible, friendly, and inclusive; comfortable working in multi-disciplinary global teamsProven group facilitation and collaboration skillsExceptional communication skillsHighly motivated and passionateKeen listener and innately driven to succeedThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
