Job Description SummaryAs a part of GE Aerospace's groundbreaking, collaborative Additive Integrated Product Team, you will use your materials expertise and program management skills to partner with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and design engineers to develop new additive hardware and lead alloy and modality development programs in support of our commercial and military aviation products. These critical technologies include DMLM (Direct Metal Laser Melting) in several alloys including Titanium, Aluminum, Nickel, and Cobalt-based alloys.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities in this role may include but would not be limited to:Provide MAE support for additively manufactured hardware, partnering with design and manufacturing to ensure designs are producible and will meet product intent.Partner with design engineering, Supply Chain, and GE Additive to increase additive manufacturing capacity/productivity and maintain product quality through effective quality and SPS planningProvide technical guidance and encourage communication between practicing additive MAEs and manufacturing regarding developments in additive manufacturing technology and capability development to influence outcomesCollaborate within cross-functional teams and execute technical projects & programs required to reduce technical risk associated with new additive materials and machines, building and leveraging domain expertise in the additive fieldDesign and conduct studies to characterize the impact of variation within manufacturing process windows, and use results to recommend updates to specifications, technical plans, and standard work instructionsProactively identify lessons learned and best practices and appropriately document these itemsLearn and apply structural problem-solving tools like TOPS8D, DMAIC, and RCCA in order to effectively support cross-functional teams in finding rapid solutions and generating lasting impact to processesSupport efforts to ensure part quality with a reduced reliance on physical testing and an increased reliance on non-destructive methods including but not limited to in-process monitoring approachesCommunicate significant developments with leadership and consult on technical roadmap developmentIn this role, you will gain or build:Systems thinking through the broader integration of design, materials science, manufacturing, and qualityTechnical understanding of GE's most advanced manufacturing technologyCross-division and cross-business collaboration skillsRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 3 years of experience in materials engineering, application, or manufacturing process development.Some local travel between sites will be requiredAble to work in-person and on-site (not virtual or remote) >75% of the timeUS Citizenship and ability to obtain a Security ClearanceDesired CharacteristicsStrong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
