Job Description
Position Overview:
The Lead Accounting Specialist will perform general accounting in accordance with GAAP and IFRS standards. They will perform month end close procedures and ensure General Ledger (GL) reconciliation is accurate and complete. They will ensure fixed asset audits are performed and depreciation recorded appropriately. They will execute internal and external financial reporting by maintaining an active role in the internal/external audit. Work closely in collaboration with Continental Accounting team to ensure accurate intercompany procedures are followed. Additionally, the Lead Accounting Specialist will supervise and guide a team of lower-level accountants. This position will report directly to the Finance Manager.
Essential Duties:
Primarily responsible for the month end close of the financial reporting system (FIRE) as well as special reporting requirements throughout the year. Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency. Analyzing financial data and creating reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors and lenders Oversight of intercompany accounting and conduct monthly reconciliations. Ensure accurate ICO balances are maintained with partners and debt and interest is properly accounted for and reported. Coordinate and communicate billing processes with ICO partners. Execution and coordination of internal and external audit to ensure timely completion by KPMG for CTA. Includes management and coordination of information flow to auditors prior to, during and subsequent to fieldwork. Handle any accounting issues that arise across all divisions during audit to ensure timely and accurate resolution. Identify and coordinate implementation of process improvements found during audit. Is proactive to develop processes and procedures that ensure effectiveness and efficiency within the department. Leads and directs the activities of the Accounting Team consisting of staff accountants, Credit Clerk, Fixed Asset/Inventory Accountant, General Cash Accountant Conduct monthly review meetings with all responsible persons with assigned account responsibilities. Ensure balance sheet accounts and general ledger are maintained and reconciled monthly. Follow up on any issues identified during review. Hiring, training, and motivating accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks. Review reported amounts for adherence to company accounting policies and IFRS Preparation of consolidated financial statements and ensure timely and accurate completion of statements in adherence to IFRS. Conduct periodic (monthly/quarterly/annually) financial reporting to Continental. Perform other duties as assigned by manager Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance 4- 7 years in accounting and/or controlling 2-5 years' experience managing a team Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with retail store/plant staff and corporate/global accounting and finance staff. Good analytical skills required. Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Master's in accounting CPA Prior SAP experience (P68 Module) Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work hours are generally 8-5 Monday – Friday. Saturday and evenings as needed. General office environment; prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 10% travel required. Required to lift 10-15 lbs. routinely Additional Information
