Purpose of the Role:
Under the direction of a Construction Foreman, crew member engages in the execution of Piedmont contracted enhancements and projects. Areas may include turf, irrigation, ground cover, shrubs, trees, retaining walls, patios, plant beds, and more. Construction Crew members will employ all safety precautions and procedures in the operation of machinery and while on the job site. All work will be performed with the purpose of "displaying nature at its best." Landscape Maintenance Crew Member Duties: Follows Piedmont methods, procedures, and techniques regarding landscape construction and repair Accurately records start and end times; reports tardiness, absences, and vacation requests according to Piedmont rules Adherence to safe work practices and procedures Assist Foreman in material and truck preparation; loading and unloading Prepares self-evaluations for performance reviews; works with Foreman, Construction Manager, and Human Resources to plan future path at Piedmont Offers enhancement suggestions to the Foreman and Construction Manager Operates and maintains power equipment per approval of the Foreman; reports items needing repair to the Construction Manager Reports low supplies or needed supplies to the Construction Manager Assists Foreman with DOT truck and trailer inspections; reports broken items or items needing maintenance to the Construction Manager; keeps all equipment clean (trucks and trailers washed 1x a week), safe, and secured May be asked to assist in special projects or after-hours emergency work Performs related duties as required Must be detail-oriented and quality driven Must be professional in appearance and actions Basic Knowledge Requirements: Operations, services, and activities of a landscape construction project Proper methods and techniques of installing hardscape, sod, plant beds, etc. Proper equipment operation/safety methods in landscape construction Basic repairs for irrigation Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Abilities: Analyze landscape problems, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations for corrective work Recognize common plants, weeds, and potential property issues Communicate clearly and concisely Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and management Ability to reach management's benchmarks for self and crew Competencies: Results Oriented Customer Focused Flexible/Adaptable Accountable Team Player On Time, Ready to Work, Reliable Education and Experience: Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred Experience: 2 years in Landscape Construction work including equipment operation and safety Licenses: Driver's License Physical and Environmental Conditions: Physical - the sufficient physical ability to work outdoors for lengthy periods of time (minimum 10-hour days) including bending, stooping, walking, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping, lifting (up to 50 pounds; up to 100 pounds with assistance); repetitive movements; carrying or pushing equipment; driving motorized vehicles and equipment; being able to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective support. Environment - Inside and outside environments working near moving mechanical parts; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, fumes, gases, potentially hazardous chemicals, electrical energy, and inclement weather conditions including wet and/or humid conditions; work around water; work on slippery surfaces; work near loud noise levels; work near street/road traffic and pedestrians ***Job description is subject to change at any moment.
