Responsibilities
• Serve as a bilingual classroom teacher in the District's bilingual and ESL programs.• Assist in curriculum development for bilingual and ESL instruction.• Provide classroom instruction to students in bilingual classrooms.• Provide additional support and leadership to bilingual and ESL education programs.• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' needs and interests.• Establish clear objectives and communicate them to students.• Establish behavior rules and maintain order in the classroom.• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and resource needs.
Requirements
• Hold three Wisconsin DPI teaching licenses: Regular Education, Bilingual Education, and ESL.• Licenses must be active or issued prior to contract start.• Bachelor's degree minimum requirement, but full certification and license required for the position.• No financial support for continued education towards certification provided.• Preference for candidates fully licensed to teach bilingual education.• MMSD does not endorse any particular certification program.• Candidate must be hired by a school district to apply for a One-Year License with Stipulations.
