Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for the maintenance of daily laboratory operations, performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks and experiments and maintains laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Asceptically cultures common mammalian cell lines Vials biological material Packs and ships temperature-sensitive biological material Keeps track of and maintains inventory Performs autoclaving of biohazard waste Washes and autoclaves glassware Maintains lab stocks of general consumables Assists with buffer and media preparation Monitors and maintains all equipment, ensures that general preventative maintenance is conducted Develops new more time effective approaches to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the laboratory Performs additional job duties as required Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an Associate degree with a minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely Demonstrated ability to recognize deviations from standard procedures and initiate appropriate corrective action Ability to troubleshoot within scope of training Computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel and other relevant electronic systems Demonstrated ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines Possesses strong attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate written records Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team Must be able to lift 35 lbs
