Job Description The Lab Services Technician will prepare customer DNA samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) utilizing a variety of library preparation methods. In cooperation with other Lab Services team members, this position is responsible for generating high quality NGS libraries within timelines set by the customer or internally. The position may become more specialized, focusing on a single or limited number of library preparation workflows as the business grows.
What you'll do Prepare high-quality NGS libraries from customer samples (biological material) following established protocols and utilizing laboratory automation Process and record data following approved protocols and using good documentation practices Effectively prioritize projects based on deadlines provided by Lab Services Project Management Ability to work and collaborate with functional group peers Support identified process improvement initiatives and corrective actions as directed by management Effectively communicate results and issues to the team for timely interpretation and troubleshooting Diligently learn and follow the requirements of the site's quality management system Adhere to company safety policies, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy Contribute to an effective, safe, and clean lab environment through various support activities  Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent degree Demonstrated experience utilizing molecular biology techniques (e.g. pipetting, operating thermal cycling instruments, preparing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reactions) Ability to work and collaborate with functional peer groups, including NGS Services Project Management and laboratory staff, Warehousing, and Research & Development Ability to become adept at the development and implementation of new technologies and technical processes that improve the quality, efficiency, and/or productivity of NGS Services operations Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience with NGS library preparation and sequencing Experience in a high-throughput laboratory Experience with laboratory automation (e.g. liquid handling instruments) Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) Additional Information ABOUT LGC: LGC is a leading, global life science tools company, providing mission-critical components and solutions into high-growth application areas across the human healthcare and applied market segments.
