Job Description W.R. Grace is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Lab team. This lab technician role is located at W.R. Grace in Sulphur, La; ISO 9001:2015 certified facility.
The primary responsibility of a Lab Technician is to determine and perform the necessary tests for analysis. They use complex laboratory equipment to analyze samples and generate accurate results for in process and catalyst samples. In addition,
lab technicians receive, label, and safely store samples to be tested. They ensure proper handling and storage to maintain sample integrity.
Responsibilities Follows all safety protocols and standards required for working in a laboratory environment with hazardous materials and processes.  Performs laboratory test, including labelling, sample preparation, distribution per standard operating procedures, records data, and observations in designated systems. Supports preventative, scheduled, and emergency maintenance plans/activities, including engagement in necessary permits and safety paperwork. Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample. Complete training, daily inspections and reporting of equipment issues through designated systems. Teach fellow lab techs and assist with Job shadowing as needed. Communicate with Lab and Operations Supervisors on results and equipment as needed. Keep complete and accurate records of work done. Maintain a safe and orderly workplace and update safety documentation and procedures as necessary. Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications Associate degree in chemical laboratory technology or related field with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 or two + years related lab experience. Ability to work 12-hour shift rotation. Willing to work overtime. Ability to communicate both verbally and written form.   Ability to read and follow laboratory procedures and safety documentation. Ability to work with a team. Ability to perform basic math skills and calculate specified formulas. Ability to interpret instructions in both written and oral form. Knowledge of computer software. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemical Lab Technology or related field with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 Experience working in a chemical laboratory environment.
