Kratos Antenna Solutions is currently seeking a talented Junior Designer to join our Mechanical Engineering & Design team. As a Junior Designer, candidate will be expected to be an integral part of our creative team, collaborate with senior designers, and support the development and execution of design projects across various platforms. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and learning in an innovative and dynamic environment. The position is located in the Plano, TX office and reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Assist with the development of engineering designs for new and existing systems based on customer requirements. Develop prototype models, and visual aids. Create detailed 3D solid models of new parts and assemblies. Create detail drawings, assembly instructions, and Bill of Materials Modify and revise designs to correct operational and manufacturing discrepancies. Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets. Participate in design meetings to fully understand projected outcomes. Incorporate Engineering Change Orders for existing product line. Work as a team member and collaborate with other functional teams to identify and implement design requirements. Solid knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, tooling, and fabrication processes. Create and refine new software templates, processes, and drafting tools to aid in current PLM migration. Be a subject matter expert on 3D printing for the organization. Experience and Skills: Certification in Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Drafting, or related field. Proficiency in Solidworks with 0-3 years experience including standardized drafting practices, advanced training provided. Knowledge of and experience with ASME Y14.5-2018 and drafting documentation for parts, assemblies, and installations. Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), training provided. Proficiency in FDM 3D printing and slicer softwares, Bambu Labs is a plus. Practical field/installation experience is a plus. Knowledge of hydraulic system design is a plus, but not required. An enthusiastic team player, detail oriented, task focused. Typically, the role of Junior Designer will not require the need for a security clearance, however many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance, as such only candidates that meet the eligibility requirements under ITAR and who are eligible for most levels of a US Government security clearance will be considered.
