Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, nonprofit corporation that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. Delivered in nine Asian languages in addition to English, our journalism extends beyond radio to include web, video, mobile and e-books.Radio Free Asia (RFA) Mandarin Service is now seeking a seasoned journalist with a minimum of 5 years professional journalism experience to prepare, produce, and present reports and programs , as well as to work on special features and to provide guidance to junior journalists. This is a full-time position, and will be open to candidates to be based in our Washington DC headquarters or Taipei office. 
Producing well-researched, balanced, and accurate news articles, features, and analysis pieces in Mandarin. Proposing and developing feature story ideas and special projects with senior editors, producing insightful opinion pieces and analysis articles that offer deeper context and understanding, with a focus on, but not limited to, China's policies, actions, and their global implications. Leveraging existing and cultivating a strong network of contacts, experts, and sources to gain insights and information for comprehensive reporting. Providing training and guidance to junior journalists to refine their reporting and analytical skills. Using digital equipment to deliver clean, clear, and creative productions across media platforms. Delivering news stories and features professionally on radio and webcast in the Mandarin language. Conducting video reporting from the field, as needed. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in broadcast or print journalism in a reputable media organization, multimedia journalism experience a plus. Bachelor's degree in journalism, China studies or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent transferable skills showing the ability to gather, produce, write, and present news and information clearly and objectively. An advanced degree is preferred. In-depth and extensive knowledge and understanding of current political, economic and social conditions in China and surrounding countries. Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill complex information into clear and engaging narratives. Knowledge of and ability to utilize online media in creative and innovative ways and to adapt to new technologies as they evolve. Existing strong networks in relevant countries, and communities. Proficiency in various digital tools, such as After Effects, Photoshop, Microsoft FrontLook, ENPS, and content management systems, is highly advantageous Required language skills: Spoken and written fluency in Mandarin and working proficiency in English.
