Responsibilities
Data Management - 45%
Design, document, implement and maintain moderately complex databases of clinical and laboratory data for the conduct of clinical trials and observational studies. Create and manage data collection instruments, data dictionaries and develop data entry modules for clinical trials and epidemiological studies. Create and maintain quality assurance systems for data maintained in study databases. This involves python programming, so knowledge of python is required.
Participate in the design and implementation of data collection systems with biostatisticians. It is essential that these systems maintain accurate data that can be immediately accessed for ongoing clinical trials of experimental treatments where participant safety is paramount. Provide advanced operational support. Troubleshoot, track and resolve system/database issues. Evaluate and follow through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated. Update and promote standard procedures for installing, configuring and maintaining databases. Collaborate with biostatisticians, laboratory personnel, regulatory staff and clinical researchers on carrying out high profile public health research with a strong emphasis on clinical trials. REDCap Management - 40%
Use the REDCap system to manage electronic clinical databases. Much of this work involves the use of the API so programming knowledge is required. Provide training to other staff on system usage - 15%
The Coordinating Centers for Biometric Research (CCBR) in the Division of Biostatistics and Health Data Science in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota has an experienced team that carries out large scale international clinical trials and observational studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Ongoing research includes trials to prevent and treat infectious (HIV/AIDS, influenza, Ebola, and COVID-19) disease and chronic (cardiovascular disease and lung) disease. The annual budget for this work exceeds $50 million; the staff of the CCBR, established 1985, includes approximately 65 faculty, staff, and graduate students, including senior data management and systems design professional and biostatisticians.
