Job Summary: ETSU's Institutional Review Board ( IRB ) is accepting applications for an IRB Education and Quality Specialist. The IRB along with the Human Research Protection Program ( HRPP ) ensures compliance with applicable policies, accreditation standards, and external regulations for research involving human participants. We help facilitate human subjects research and ensure it is done safely, ethically, and legally. We take pride in being service-oriented and flexible.
The IRB Education and Quality Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the HRPP by overseeing educational programs, and compliance initiatives, and contributing to the program's quality and effectiveness. The responsibilities are divided into two broad categories (1) Education/Training and (2) Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI). This position is responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and resources for the research community and performing compliance reviews of research protocols and HRPP records to ensure that the conduct and oversight of research involving human participants comply with applicable regulations and ethical standards. This proactive approach is intended to minimize risks to participants, researchers, and the institution as well as promote a culture of compliance.
