The South Dakota State Historical Society (SDSHS) Research and Publishing Office has an opportunity for an Inventory Manager who is committed to quality customer service and professional staff assistance. This position is primarily responsible for order fulfillment, maintaining inventory, warehouse tasks, and processing of all payments and refunds. Duties will include answering the main office phone, maintaining databases in QuickBooks, preparing a variety of sales reports, generating royalty payments, communicating through correspondence and email, and completing physical inventory of assets. Must be able to lift forty-pound boxes. Duties will also include assisting the director and other office staff. The ideal candidate will thrive in a flexible atmosphere as a member of a small publications team. The SDSHS Research & Publishing Office includes the award-winning South Dakota Historical Society Press, with more than 75 titles in print that are warehoused on site.
This is a full-time, 40 hours weekly, position with the Department of Education. For more information on the Department of Education, please visit . The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Two years' experience in a retail or office environment, an interest in history, and an appreciation for books.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
experience using QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Word are essential; ability to lift forty-pound boxes is necessary; excellent customer service practices are essential, as are written and oral communication skills, and basic bookkeeping practices sufficient to record debits and credits; and knowledge of invoices, requisitions, and similar forms and documentation used in purchasing, database management, and arithmetic skills sufficient to calculate percentages.
