Our organization operates under the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) model for efficiency and reliability. The Infrastructure & Operations Database Administrator plays a crucial role in our team's 24x7 support for databases, primarily focusing on SQL Server. Additionally, this role engages with cutting-edge technologies such as Nutanix, VMWare, MS SQL Server, Azure, and Oracle, ensuring our database ecosystem is robust and optimized.
General Responsibilities: Provision, install, upgrade, and manage databases across various environments, including OnPrem and Cloud solutions, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Collaborate with the I&O Database Manager in documenting, updating, and communicating key processes and documentation within the database environment. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, integration challenges, and other database-related concerns promptly and effectively. Determine the best placement of databases in OnPrem or Cloud solutions based on performance, security, and scalability requirements. Implement and maintain best practices for database administration, including backups, security measures, and disaster recovery strategies. Provide transactional support for applications and assist in defining non-production environments for testing and development purposes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new processes, change management, and problem management strategies related to the database ecosystem. Additional Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a SQL Server DBA with a proven track record of managing large-scale databases. Experience in working with Nutanix, VMWare, MS SQL Server, Azure, and Oracle environments. Strong understanding of database architecture, optimization techniques, and performance tuning methodologies. Experience with automation tools and scripting languages to streamline database administration tasks. Proven ability to lead database projects and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Familiarity with industry standards, compliance requirements, and security best practices for database management. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Oracle Certified Professional are a plus.
