Infrastructure Engineer - Enterprise Farm Bureau Financial Services is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer who will be accountable for developing and ensuring Infrastructure strategies and technical architectures meet short, medium and long-term business objectives. This individual will drive future state technology discussions and take ownership of driving adoption of these technologies within the complex Infrastructure disciplines. What you'll do: • Partner with directors, application developers, technicians, and other engineers from IT areas to design and make recommendations for architecture improvement.
• Utilize effective written and oral communication skills to partner with business unit leaders and staff to outline the advantages, objectives, and options to both technical and business problems.
• Lead extensive collaboration between engineering peers to ensure that architecture and solution designs are rationalized and integrated across IT functions and business units.
• Analyze financial services industry and technology trends to determine potential impacts to our business and proactively partner with application and infrastructure teams to create road maps.
• Recommend technology direction and/or adjustments to incorporate in the business plans.
• Responsible for ongoing mentoring, training, and education of technical staff within their domain, to ensure skillsets are appropriate for current and future technologies.
• Research, design and implement new initiatives to improve implementation, administration and maintenance of infrastructure systems and tools.
• Accountable for assigned infrastructure systems and troubleshoot complex problems to ensure timely resolution.
• Work with external vendors molding strategic direction of vendor systems to support the strategic direction of Farm Bureau.
What it takes to join our team: College degree or equivalent plus eight years relevant experience required. Experience with an emphasis on enterprise class infrastructure architecture, cloud services and architectures, and standards preferred. Experience with cloud / virtualization / storage / networking / server technologies preferred Four years' experience in insurance or finance services preferred. Mastery of infrastructure design and implementation and technical best practices Strong analytical/conceptual thinking skills, technical systems knowledge, and problem-solving skills are required. Must have good customer service orientation, impact and influence, industry awareness, initiative, integrity, people savvy, relationship management and self-confidence skills. Must have or attain a strong understanding of all entities of the FBL Financial Group. Must understand the inter-relationship between business and technological needs. Strong oral and written communication skills targeting mixed technical and business-oriented audiences. Some travel required.
