Summary: Responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of the Society's technological infrastructure which includes, but is not limited to network components, telephony infrastructure, telecommunications, computing devices, virtual environments, and cloud systems. Creates and reviews operational procedures to ensure delivery of secure and reliable systems with maximum availability. Responsible for Network Operations Center as well as creating core recoverability plans to support the Society's Disaster Recovery process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs, engineers, implements, and supports rotation strategies for infrastructure systems, including telecommunications, voice, videoconference, internet, electronic messaging, network, virtual, cloud, storage, server, workstation, database, and print systems.
Develop, apply, maintain, and manage backup policies and systems for all data infrastructure, including any off-site retention programs.
Establishes procedures and support for managing network users, user environments, directories, and permissions management.
Recommends and advises IT Management on hardware and software configuration, selection criteria implications, and other technological specifications based on utilization patterns and the effects on system availability and performance.
Manages implementation of security policies that affect infrastructure systems.
Provides senior-level expertise to define strategies for and lead complex infrastructure projects in a technical and project management capacity.
Responsible for Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
Provides input to IT Management during annual business planning activities in order to assist in establishing budgetary guidance and project recommendations related to infrastructure systems.
Available outside regular working hours to assist in resolving production or implementation problems.
Ownership of Active Directory and related systems including ADFS, Azure AD, DHCP, DNS, Network Policy Server, OU Structures, Group Policy, and DFS Replication.
Security centric with deep knowledge of firewalls, web application firewalls, network segmentation, IPS/IDS, SSL certificates, OpenPGP encryption methodologies, PKI and certificate authorities, and 801.1x and 802.11

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Successful completion of the Life Office Management Association (LOMA) certifications and designations: Customer Essentials Certificate; Associate, Customer Service (ACS); and Associate, Life Management Institute (ALMI). Microsoft (MCSA and MCTS), Cisco, and/or VMWare certifications are preferred.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer networking fundamentals, particularly network topology. Possesses an excellent grasp of virtualization technologies, storage area networks, LAN/WAN devices, Microsoft server and desktop operating systems, and various standard infrastructure applications. Sound knowledge of and experience working with switches, routers, and firewalls. Experience with telephony technologies. Hardware assembly knowledge is highly desirable. Individual will possess strong experience in IP addressing, routing, switching, internet circuits, WAN topologies, VPN; website hosting, IIS; Veeam backup and replication, DR systems and strategies, DRaaS; cloud computing, SaaS, Office 365, Microsoft Exchange; storage management, SAN; physical systems and hardware; VMWare infrastructure, terminal services, remote computing; ITIL foundation and best practices; and monitoring and alerting. Individual should be capable of minor database administration for MSSQL server along with knowledge of SQL server; have an advanced understanding of core networking disciplines, routing, switching, and subnetting; and a deep level of experience with firewalls and security appliances.
