Join our dedicated team as an Information and Referral Specialist where you will play a pivotal role in providing critical support and information to individuals with limb loss and limb differences. Your work will focus on sensitively gathering information and delivering knowledgeable responses through a variety of communication channels. This role is vital in maintaining our comprehensive database and continuously updating our resource materials to best support our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide timely and accurate information in response to inquiries from community members, their families, and professionals through phone, email, and online platforms.
Utilize professional assessment techniques to gather sensitive information and deliver effective solutions using an extensive database of resources.
Regularly update and maintain an online database to ensure that resource information is current and accessible.
Develop and distribute educational materials in collaboration with the Resource and Education team.
Stay informed about the latest developments in Orthotics and Prosthetics by engaging with relevant publications, attending professional conferences, and participating in workshops.
Support local affiliates by providing technical assistance and ensuring they have access to necessary information and referral services.
Engage with online communities to provide support and accurate information.
Conduct research on new resources and update existing listings to enhance our service coverage.
Follow up with clients to ensure they have received the support needed to improve their quality of life.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
At least two years of experience in information and referral services.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Salesforce; willing and able to learn new software systems.
A deep understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about limb loss, limb differences, and related fields.
Excellent communication, data entry, research, and writing skills.
A strong sense of empathy, detail orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
High level of independence and motivation with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Predominantly sedentary with extensive use of phone and computer.
Must be able to handle occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel; participation in the annual national conference and other events as needed, totaling less than 10% travel annually.
