Essential duties and responsibilities:
Utilize programming software (3i Blank and SigmaNest) to create cutting nests that maximizes sheet utilization and minimizes run time while meeting quality expectations.
Develop procedures and standards for all laser programmers and cutting operators to follow.
Establish corporate strategy for best use of automation (material loading towers) including lights out cutting.
Provide guidance to design

engineers/customers

on the sheet metal based on cutting knowledge (including tooling selection for commonality with other parts).
Assist in the management of turret tooling (identification, storage, and tracking of tools).
Establish and maintain turret tooling library used by all programmers.
Work with Operations to optimize cutting processes and monitor machine up-time.
Provide technical manufacturing support throughout the organization.
Communicate with internal and external customers on manufacturing techniques and quality related issues.
Consult with supervisors and leads to determine acceptable quality levels.
Research tools, methodologies, and processes to find solutions to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.
Implement Continuous Improvement and Waste Elimination using Lean Principals
Complete time studies on manufacturing processes.
Other process engineering duties as needed:
Creating engineering drawings, bills of materials, and routings.
Designing manufacturing fixtures and gauges to assist operations.
Process new parts and engineering changes and assist impacted parties with implementation.
Provide oversight to the production first run of products, reviewing process for inefficiencies, ensure all documentation is correct and quality standards are met.

Qualifications
A degree in a technical field such as mechanical, manufacturing, and/or industrial engineering or related experience
3-7+ years of experience in fabrication manufacturing engineering processes such as laser cutting or horizontal machining centers
Blueprint reading and interpretation
2D & 3D CAD, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or Pro-E Software
Programming Software (3i Blank-M, SigmaNest)
Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
Microsoft Office Software
