Full job description Benefits: 401(k) Competitive salary Dental insurance Health insurance Human Resources Manager The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join its Senior Management Team. The position is based in downtown Santa Barbara, with occasional travel to other agency locations throughout Santa Barbara County . This is a unique role with the county's leading provider of life-changing treatment and services for children, teens, adults, and families struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health conditions. Founded in 1949, CADA is a progressive, culturally sensitive, and highly respected organization for its commitment to helping clients find their own personal path to recovery and lead positive, productive lives that strengthen families and our community.



This senior position reports to CADA's Executive Director and manages all aspects of HR for the agency's 100+ member employee team. The HR Manager supervises an HR Assistant.



Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following: Collaborate with the Executive Director and Senior managers to determine recruitment needs. Manage the HR/payroll system. Negotiate employment offers; process terminations, lay-offs, and leaves of absence; conduct exit interviews; evaluate and process workers' compensation claims, issues, and procedures. Work with employees and their manager to address performance and other employee relations issues. Interface with external legal counsel on HR issues as required. Attend labor law seminars and keep abreast of updates. Manage salary ranges in consultation with the senior management team. Collaborate with the Executive Director and the insurance representative to review health insurance plans for new plan year. Conduct open enrollment meetings and process new roll-out insurance plans for the new plan year. Administer the Injury and Illness, Prevention Plan (IIPP). Train supervisors on personnel policies and procedures. Respond to information requests from governmental entities. Maintain OSHA required logs and post as appropriate. Provide backup to the HR Assistant as required. CADA's HR Manager will have … A bachelor's degree in business management o SHRM, PHR certificate preferred.

Background and/or experience in Human Resources in a nonprofit agency. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and possess data base management skills (data entry, queries, reports). Familiarity with payroll processing. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting procedures. An understanding of employee benefit plans, including health insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. Strong organizational skills and a commitment to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. The highest level of confidentiality while interfacing a diverse employee population with tact and discretion. This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position . Benefits include health, dental, vision and life insurance, retirement contribution, and paid time off (vacation, sick, holiday). Salary range $72,000 - $78,000, dependent on qualifications.
