DESCRIPTIONThe Library envisions a future where our organization makes "information accessible in order to inspire innovation, foster critical inquiry and advocate for social justice." To support this vision, the Human Resources Generalist serves as the expert advisor and provides critical HR support to 22 Library programs, 60+ academics, 200+ staff and 200+ student employees. The incumbent works within Library Employee Services to identify and promote best practices for the recruitment, promotion and retention of a diverse team of library professionals. The incumbent coordinates with Library leadership and campus partners to support an environment where the diverse cultures of our faculty and staff are celebrated.
Responsibilities include: recruitment, classification, compensation, benefits administration, employee development, compliance, and UC Path transaction entry and audit. Reports to the Director, Library Employee Services. Provides analysis regarding all salary equity issues pertaining to new hires, reclassification, equity requests and merit increases. Manages the process for staff classification including making recommendations or determinations for appropriate classification. Attends all human resources briefings and disseminates relevant information. Serves as HR Contact and acts as a liaison between management and campus offices such as Human Resources, Academic Affairs and Central Offices for staff HR actions and issues. Interprets, evaluates, applies policies and procedures using independent judgment and ensures compliance with policies and regulations. Takes initiative for and participates in the development of Unit HR policies and processes. Actively contributes to the development of HR policies, practices and process improvements. Participates in campus-wide HR committees, work-groups, initiatives, and process changes, as appropriate. Participates as a key member of the Library's classification team and makes appropriate recommendations for classification. Serves as back up HR Manager in the absence of the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONSProven ability to evaluate, interpret, and implement policies and procedures relevant to payroll and employment for represented and non-represented employees.
Knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures.
Knowledge of human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of other areas of HR.
Ability to analyze complex situations, troubleshoot, and develop/recommend solutions.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong intercultural competency and overall ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders both online and in-person, in one-on-one, small group, and largegroup settings.
Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area.
SPECIAL CONDITIONSJob offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
