We're looking for a dynamic and adaptable Human Resources Generalist to join our team and help us maintain a positive and supportive work environment. As part of our HR team, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by ensuring our policies are effectively communicated and enforced, and by providing support across a range of HR activities.
Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive company culture, enhancing employee morale, and supporting our mission. You'll work closely with our managers and the Associate HR Director to ensure that our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently.
This full-time position may occasionally require weekend shifts, such as Tuesday-Saturday, to support our 24/7 shelter programs and recruitment events.
**Qualifications:**
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. An Associates Degree combined with 4 years of HR experience, or HR accreditation with SHRM or HRCI, may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, with a focus on serving staff and employees in administrative functions.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with HRIS and/or payroll systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assist with maintaining our HRIS and payroll system, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and confidential.
- Respond to HR-related inquiries and provide guidance to staff on HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain records and documentation in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Create and update job descriptions that align with our commitment to pay equity, EEO, and DEI.
- Support the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Assist with long-term HR projects and initiatives.
**Requirements:**
- A valid driver's license, access to an insured vehicle, and a satisfactory driving record for the past three years.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background screening.
- Registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.
**Physical and Mental Demands:**
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Excellent hearing and vision abilities for interactions with staff and applicants.
- Regular problem-solving and decision-making skills to address non-standard situations.
- Ability to work in a dynamic office environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
