Job Duties :
The Human Resource Generalist positions support management and employees in conducting their work to deliver programs by providing traditional human resource services. These services include recruiting, hiring and orientation, compensation, negotiating and administering labor contracts, training, promoting employee safety, conducting workforce analysis and data reporting, performance management, resolving complaints and grievances, and establishing and enforcing policies and practices in the workplace that contribute to employee and department welfare and reflect state and federal employment regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems, State of Montana personnel policies and procedures and state and federal laws. Skill in: active listening; reading comprehension; organizational skills; critical thinking and analytical skills; excellent customer service; use and operation of a personal computer. Ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff, supervisors/managers, peers and colleagues; make sound judgements and decisions; communicate effectively orally and in writing; organize multiple and varied work responsibilities effectively; counsel people in stressful situations; ability to determine and maintain confidential information; maintain high level of accuracy in all aspects. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge skills and abilities of this position are normally attained through a bachelor's degree in human resources, personnel management, public administration, business, communication, or a closely related field and three years related job experience. Other combinations of experience and education will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
