Purpose of the position:

The HR Director will manage and oversee recruitment, employee orientation and onboarding, HR System maintenance and approvals of employee actions, maintaining personnel files and ensuring compliance with all employment regulations. The incumbent will also manage employee communications, employee services, employee perks, performance management processes and employee uniform distribution. The HR Director will provide overall HR guidance and counsel to managers throughout the resort.

Essential Functions:

Foster a positive work environment and develop ideas for enhancing a culture that will facilitate attraction and retention of employees at all levels of the organization, including greeting, directing and assisting all guests and employees. Aim to be a helpful resource for all employees at all levels.

Serve as a daily HR contact for managers regarding employee performance management, compensation, benefits, recruitment and retention, company policies and procedures and employment law compliance. Supervise and manage HR employees.

Advise managers on best compensation practices to both stay within budget and to stay as consistent as possible. Work with the accounting department for best budgeting practices for both Human Resources and labor across all departments.

Provide leadership consulting and coaching services for all levels of leaders. This includes both proactive and reactive conversations depending on the nature of the issue and the level of experience with the manager. Most coaching should be proactive to prevent issues from arising.

Attend management and department meetings, interact with managers, leaders and employees on a regular basis, be the eyes and ears for assessing the culture and employee morale across the resort, keep "finger on the pulse" of the organization and manage the employee opinion and survey process.

Maintain an accurate listing of current job vacancies; including updating job boards, recruiting websites and posting classified ads in online recruitment sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Craigslist and other online hospitality job boards for available job openings.

Assist and give advice to hiring managers as they are going through the recruiting process to ensure that the best candidate is hired.

Organize the seasonal Employee and Volunteer hiring fairs, coordinating manager participation and advertising.

Complete all aspects of employee onboarding: facilitate seasonal employee orientations; conduct background and reference checks; respond to unemployment notices and unemployment and worker's compensation claims, seeking counsel from MCP HR as needed for challenging employee relations and regulatory matters.

Coordinate annual performance review processes ensuring that salary changes comply with company policy(ies).

Lead the effort to update the employee handbook, working with MCP HR to ensure alignment and compliance with overall Mountain Capital Partners policies and employment laws and regulations

Organize employee recognition activities and perks per the eligibility guidelines put forth by corporate HR

Manage and maintain employee website and employee communication development and distribution

Maintain company uniform distribution, cleaning and repairs

Proactively organize and manage learning opportunities, training sessions and other vehicles to support personal and professional growth.

Provide guidance and input on workforce planning, restructures, and succession planning.

Ensures HR processes and procedures are simple, easy to follow, and fulfill the needs of our managers and employees.

Manages HR team for a high level of customer service, responsiveness, and thorough understanding of the business.

Translate business priorities into resort-level HR initiatives.

Facilitate the annual employee survey as well as periodic pulse surveys. Create and follow through with action plans to ensure employees at all levels have a great working experience.

As part of the MCP Human Resources team, provide input into broader HR solutions, such as HR technology, compensation, benefits, training and development, as well as legal compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that the company's Mission and Values are conveyed to all employees and permeate our culture. Serve as an culture ambassador for the environment that Mountain Capital Partners and the Resort are trying to build and enhance. Other duties as assigned.

Education / Training / License(s) / Certification(s) Requirements:

Qualified candidates must have previous administrative and/or HR experience, preferably 3-5 years as an HR practitioner. General knowledge of employment laws and regulations. The candidate must be able to handle highly confidential matters in a sensitive and professional manner. Candidate must be familiar with or be able to quickly learn Google Suite, Excel, Word, and Paycom. Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), strong interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to manage time, be well organized, handle multiple tasks, and have a high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work weekends and holidays during the ski season and peak summer operations.

Work Environment:

80-90% of the work day is spent indoors, in a normal office environment. 80% of the workday is spent sitting, 10% standing and 10% walking.

Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds. Constantly typing. Constantly engaging in normal conversation, in person and over the phone. Frequently reaching, balancing, stooping, use of near and far acuity, color and field of vision. Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping. Potential exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards. This is a non-skiing position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,990.42 - $55,386.32 per year
