Summary The Human Resources Specialist, under general supervision & mentorship, performs a variety of responsible and routine technical, administrative and generalist duties within the assigned HR function. Provides customer service to associates and leaders, researches and processes transactional actions, and works with an experienced HR professional to develop skills through on-the-job experience. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Education/Experience/Licensure Education/Formal Training Work Experience Credential/Licensure REQUIRED: High School diploma or GED
At least 2 years' experience in human resources
PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Healthcare industry/hospital experience
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources may substitute for experience

Excellent interpersonal communications skills to effectively communicate and interact with associates and all levels of management. Proficient with software programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Demonstrated ability to resolve routine problems using standard policies, practices, or procedures; applies sound reasoning and logic to familiar problems and situations. Key Job Responsibilities Interprets and explains HR procedures and policies to leaders and associates. With guidance, fields HR issues. Assists the HR team with achievement of departmental and/or organizational goals and initiatives. Assists with facility or community programs that focus on learning and valuing different cultures, races religions and ethnic backgrounds. Learns, practices, and validates knowledge in using data and performing evidence based research. Gathers facts and data and organizes the information to gain information on the problem/issue. Gathers data for reporting on key HR metrics. Assists with research on best practice or other benchmarking initiatives. Apprises HR leaders of associate relations issues, developments, and events to ensure risks are addressed. Provides support for and works cooperatively with the team to implement organizational changes. Coordinates and facilitates events such as recognition events, service awards, community events, activity groups, etc. Takes an active role in reinforcement of the MLH culture within the facility/unit and partners to drive an engaged workforce. Understands organizational and facility goals to ensure human resources functions are aligned with business needs. Maintains records and associate files, submitting required changes, forms, reports and other information to the appropriate department for processing in a timely and accurate manner, consistently applying company policies/procedures and regulatory and/or accreditation standards. Physical Requirements The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
