HCI is a leading multi-unit management company based in Manhattan, Kansas. HCI's largest brand is Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers franchises with 40+ locations throughout the Midwest, Texas, and East Coast. HCI manages three locally owned and operated restaurants in Manhattan and Junction City and offers full-service catering to the central Kansas area. In 2021 HCI added Booth Creek Wagyu, Meatworks of Kansas processing plant in Riley, KS, and Booth Creek Wagyu Retail store in Manhattan. The newest additions were developed in 2023, adding two retail stores, one in Overland Park and Wichita, KS.
Job Description The HR Generalist will manage the day-to-day work of the HRIS system. This position involves a combination of technical expertise, data analysis, process improvement mindset, and strong communication skills to ensure the accurate and efficient flow of HR information within the organization. The position collaborates closely with HR professionals, staff, and other relevant stakeholders to implement, enhance, and troubleshoot HR systems and processes.
Duties & Responsibilities:  Initiate onboarding and background checks for new hires and rehires Ensure timely and accurate completion of all new hire paperwork, following up as necessary with stores and new hires on missing paperwork Assist employees with troubleshooting onboarding or login issues Update and approve changes to employment records related to hiring, terminations, or transfers Review employee changes to direct deposit and enroll pay cards when necessary Provide excellent customer service as first point of contact for HR Complete verbal and written employment verification inquiries Maintain and update employee data within the HRIS, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with company policies and regulations. Monitor HRIS system usage and data quality, conducting regular audits and troubleshooting any discrepancies or errors. Configure system settings, workflows, and security permissions based on organizational requirements. Provide training and support to HR staff and end-users on HRIS functionality and best practices. Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
