Kansas Neurological Institute The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 130 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives; in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community.
KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
About the Position: All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
This position is specialized in diverse administrative support work with broad latitude to accomplish the goals of Human Resources. This position provides advanced clerical and administrative services and assistance of complex levels, requiring judgment and discretion on a daily basis. This position is the primary contact for the KLPM system and will have broad involvement in workflow management, ensuring consistency of forms, processes and procedures, data retention, and training of supervisors and staff on the KLPM system. This position will also assist with payroll, benefits, and recruitment.

Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency. The incumbent of this position has access to protected health information (PHI) under the provisions of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule. PHI must be treated in accordance with the provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Regulation including the requirements for safeguarding, releasing and recording the release of such information. The incumbent has been trained in the provision of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations as they relate to the duties of this position and has signed a confidentiality agreement. Preferred Qualifications: State Personnel Regulations and SHaRP System Work requires well developed communication skills and extreme accuracy.
